SA Cup Launch

On June 21st, the Illinois Space Society (ISS) large rocketry team, Spaceshot, successfully launched their Spaceport America Cup competition rocket: Intrepid III for the third time in the academic year. After its two previous successful 15,000 ft test launches in October and March respectively, the team expanded and improved on the Student Researched and Designed (SRAD) capabilities of the rocket. The team competed in the 30k COTS category, and took second place, a historic achievement for the team and a testament to the hard work and dedication of its members. Over 100 teams compete across the Spaceport America Cup, and more than 30 ISS Spaceshot members attended the competition, where they not only got to prep and launch the rocket but had valuable networking and social experiences.
