Brief
A real looker, this short and stout rocket with a ring around the fins to add stability. It also has forward finlets forward to each fin.

Construction
When I ordered its sister kit, the GTX, this model was temporarily sold out, so I told the company please to inform me when more came and that I'd send for it. Less than 2 weeks later, they arrived, although at a higher price, but the company allowed me to have this kit at its original price. That was a nice courtesy.

All parts came intact in shipping popcorn. The ring appears to be a strong heavy plastic that might be a fiberglass. It's stronger than just polyethylene. The fins and finlets are precut plywood and the sizes are equal in the sets. That's nice not to have to shave some parts to fit or match, like we sometimes must. The 2 launch lugs fit 1/4 inch rods. The nose cone appears to be a LOC hollow cone and comes with a premeasured amount of clay for static stability weighting. It rattles unnervingly in there when put in, so I applied a small amount of epoxy to keep it still. My answer to many problems. Epoxy.

The motor mount is 29mm tubing and 2 plywood centering rings, one of which has 2 holes designed to accept a loop from the steel cording in the aftward part of the shock cord system. This cord is crimped twice to make 2 loops, one forward to attach the 1/2 inch elastic shock cord. That was hard, requiring elbow grease and pliers.

Everything else goes together in a snap, as it fits well. Epoxy was used as the glue. Directions were simple and straightforward. The chute is a pretty red rip stop, but lightweight nylon, 23 inches in diameter.

Finishing
This kit came with decals, so I used them. I painted the rocket yellow and placed the decals over that, as they're black and look nice over yellow. The model has a unique and catchy look. I'm pleased with it.

Flight
The manufacturer recommends the F40-6, F62-6, F80-6, G40-10, and G80-10. I chose the G35. It happens to be a favorite motor of mine. I had one with a 7 delay. I figured that was a close call. I'd like an 8 or 9, really. Anyway, I like the Econojets because they are noisy on takeoff and put out a pretty flame. Well, the rocket took off with great noise and went up over 1000 feet for sure. It went up into the sun, so I was unsure if it was still pointed up at ejection. I retained the motor with piano wire and an auto hose clamp. Worm bed wadding protected the chute. Everything fit easily into the tube and wasn't so tight as to make prepping tough.

Recovery
Everything survived well, so it seems that the 7 second delay is passable. The chute is also a passable size, too, as no fins were damaged.

Summary
Attractive and easy to build. Good if you want something special to show others at a launch. It's something you won't find in stores. I had to browse the net for it. Good mid power flights. Great company to order from.
