[Rocket Pic]Brief:  The 24mm motor tube was removed, and a 29mm mount was added.

Modifications:  The reason I made this mod was because the rocket landed in water, and the motor mount tube was damaged when I tried removing the motor.  I carefully cut the boattail along the wing , and removed the top half.  I trimmed the old tube to an inch or so (I can't remember now).  I then enlarged the rear ring to hold the 29mm tube. I then cut and glued the 29mm tube in the rocket over the 24mm tube stub (a perfect fit) that was left from the old tube. The stub acted as a block for the motor.  I then glued the rear ring in place, and the boattail back where it was.  A little sanding, and it was good to go!

Construction:  This is a good kit.  The parts are good quality.  I don't remember how the instructions are, since it's been years since I built it.  There were a lot of decals, and the placement with some of them was not very clear in the illustrations.  It has antennae which stick out of the nose, but these are very hard to assemble and adhere to the rocket, so after about five reassembles, I took them all off.

Flight:  Recommended is Estes D12's.  I've used Aerotech reloads (E11, F14), with impressive results.  It uses a lot of wadding, and includes a nylon chute.  Depending on how you build it, it can fly either straight or in a corkscrew.  I chose the spiral, which is neat.  It has a good recovery, but the fins can crack if it lands on a road or hard dirt.

Summary:  I really like it.  It's a fun rocket to fly, and I like the way it looks.  I think it should be built with a piston ejection or a baffle, though (I had slight melting on a few flights). I think this is a neat design, and it looks cool in flight.
