Brief:Rocket Pic
I saw a picture of this rocket as a new release from Estes a while back and thought that it looked like
a lot of fun. I reminded me of the GoonyBird series whI thought was very creative. I did not pay much attention to the spec's on this rocket and was in for a suprise when I saw it at the hobby store the other day. Boy is it small, I almost missed it on the pegboard it so small. Small but fun so I bought it anyway.

Construction:

When I got home I took it out of the package this kit is in the E2X series or the super easy line. There are very few parts to this kit. Two plastic halves a nose cone, small engine tube, small streamer, elastic and a bit of clay.

I did not even look at the instructions this kit is so intutive to construct. I did modify a few bits on this kit. I could not get all of the clay in the nose, so I took out some and replaced half the clay with a small fishing weight. I also ditched the elastic and the plastic streamer. I added some Kevlar® string and Teflon plumbers tape for a completly flame proof recovery system.

I was done in about 15 minutes start to finish.

Finishing:
The kit comes already finished so no finishing is needed. It also comes with some sticker decals that are added when complete.

Construction Rating: 4 out of 5

Flight/Recovery:
Since it was a bit windy I decided to use a 1/2A3-4T so that it would not go to high. I got a lot of comments on the way to the flight line, people were very amused by the size of this rocket. I loaded it up on the low power pad and waited for the count 5-4-3-2-1 Whoop-pop, the nose seperated and came down on streamer and the body came down on its own 20 feet away. The ejection charge had toasted the Kevlar string, I had it glued to the engine mount. I could not fly it again until I reattach the shock cord, someone up higher on the rocket. All in all I was very pleased with the flight, it went straight and came down close to the pad even in moderate winds.

Flight Rating: 3 out of 5

Summary:
Pros - Cheap kit, easy to construct.

Cons - Very small and easy to lose.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5
