This was a scratch built design using leftover paper tubes from the local meat department. Only part that wasn't scratch was the Shockwave nosecone.
The original Rocksim file is "The Shockwave" before I decided it would be a theme rocket to hang in my meat department for the 4th of July.
I first designed the rocket in Rocksim just to get an idea of CG and CP and to determine an appropriate motor. Once I had the basics, the actually assembly wasn't too hard. The nose cone needed little work, just a loop of webbing to attach it. I fiberglassed the airframe (left over paper tubes aren't particulary strong.
I finished the rocket with a red, white, and blue theme for the 4th of July. I used painting tape to make "torn flames" on the front and back. I used the cheapest paint Home Depot sells and it worked great! I did some airbrushing for the logo of the grocery store logo that I got most of the parts from.
I flew this rocket with the CTI I800 Vmax. Wow, what an awesome flight. The followingis a video of the flight at Hellfire 16 out on the Utah Salt Flat.
My delay was quite a bit too long but everything worked great!
