Brief:
Beginner Rocket, single staged with streamer recovery.
Construction:
Single body tube BT-20 with a BT-5 MMT, Basic 3FNC rocket with the only twist being the
Jig-Tech fins.
Excellent rocket kit for the first time builder!!! The instructions were very detailed and my 7 year old second grader was able to follow them. Since I had 2 x 45 minute sessions to build the rocket with 10 students (4th and 5th grader mix) I re-ordered to allow maximum glue drying time. But the order of steps as comes with the kit is fine also.
The only tools needed to build the kits were:
Well designed kit the no damage was incurred during launch or recovery.
(We did have one student step on his rocket...)
Finishing:
Most kits were painted with water based paint by the kids, the kit I built we flew
unfinished. All flew well.
Construction Rating: 5 out of 5
Flight:
The 1/4A3-3T's are a little under powered for this kit. However, all flew acceptably.
I would recommend a 1/2A3-2T for first flights.
I also flew them on A10-3T and they flew very well on this motor.
Recovery:
Kevlar®
thread mounted to the MMT, to shock cord to NC. The streamer was tied to the NC.
System worked very well.
Flight Rating: 4 out of 5
Summary:
I have some spare parts and plan on making a tumble recover version of the same rocket.
The Streamer system is excellent but I think a tumble recover version will work as well and with less complexity.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5
Other:
This kit exceeded my expectations. For a Student classroom kit. I could not have had a better
kit to build.
