The instructions for the HV ARCAS are ok. They have made improvements/changes in the kit but have not fixed the directions, so they leave you to figure out how to put some things together. They give you diagrams for nearly all of the steps on the kit. The tools needed are: 30 and 5 minute epoxy's, CA, sandpaper, ruler, sanding sealer, pencil, X-acto knife, blind nuts and 2-3 quick links.
All the parts fit well without any sanding. But I modified mine for altimeter ejection. So I glued the 11" section to the booster section (they give you 2 34" sections and 1 11" section). Then I used the coupler for the 34" payload section for the altimeter bay! And they give you a ACE cone, this REALLY needs to be replaced with a PML 4" nose cone!
The rocket looks GREAT when done! They do give you decals for the rocket and tell you where/what color paint to use on the rocket.
The first flight of my ARCAS was on a Kosdon I420 FAST reload! The rocket REALLY left the pad FAST! The at apogee the altimeter fired the drogue (24"chute), going good so far. Then a 250 feet the altimeter fired the main and the rocket was recovered with out any damage!
I would give the ARCAS 4 points! It would definitely get 5 points if they gave a PML nose cone and fix there directions!!
