Motors / Experimental / Hybrid

On May 11th, 2013 the AeroScience students of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD's Hollenstein Career and Technology Center participated in SystemsGo's annual high school high powered rocket launch in Freeport TX. These student teams designed and built two high powered rockets. The first team (Cesar, Gadiel, Morgan, Nathan, Noel, William), Maroon shirts, purple rocket: used a "J" class hybrid motor in an attempt to launch a 5 ½ feet tall, 8.2 pound rocket to an altitude of 1 mile. Sadly, the parachute did not deploy. So, the rocket (or what was left of the rocket) had to be dug out of an 18 inch deep hole. The second team (Marisa, Zach, John, Yessenia, Brennen, Suzette), Tan shirts, pink & green rocket: used an "L" class hybrid motor in an attempt to launch an 8 ½ feet tall, 23 pound rocket to a transonic velocity while staying below 13,000 feet. Thank you to Dakota, for taking and editing this video.
