Joy Cohn and Niels Jahn Knudsen have produced plans for creating a static paper model of the Vanguard TV-1 two-stage test vehicle.
A modified Martin Viking Type II formed the first stage of the TV-1. A prototype of a Vanguard third stage served as the TV-1's second stage. TV-1 flights tested the the third-stage for spin-up, separation, ignition, and propulsion performance.
The image to the right shows the successful launch of Vanguard TV-1 in May of 1957.
