Tripoli Rocketry Association (Misc)

Tripoli is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and operation of amateur high-power rocketry.

The name "Tripoli" is said to have originated in December of 1964 with a group of high school students in Irwin, Pennsylvania who formed a high school science club.  Members of the club came from three cities in the area, East Pittsburgh, North Braddock, and Irwin. They named the club "Tripoli" which can mean "three cities."

As rocketry dominated the interest of the club, the name morphed from the Tripoli Science Club to the Tripoli Rocket Club.  Over the years, other organized rocketry clubs joined with Tripoli to form a loose "Federation" of "Prefects" which evolved into the Tripoli Rocketry Association.
