24mm
Flight Date: | 2012-07-21 |
Rocket Name: | Monitor |
Flyer's Name: | Ryan Quadros |
Motors: | Cesaroni E 75-17A with 8 second delay |
Launch Site: | Amesbury, MA |
Destroyed as it smashed into the ground. The rocket was too heavy and/or underpowered. The delay was also too long. It was 8 seconds. I was assuming the cesaroni motor was stronger than it actually was. The rocket lawn darted into the ground crunching the top of the tube.
I then cut it off and changed out the crunched cardboard and replaced it with two 4" sections of carbon fiber. It's longer now but way stronger for about the same weight. Next flight, use a similar motor with a 3 second delay or a stronger motor. Perhaps an F with a 5 second delay or even a G with a 7 second delay. Can't go any higher because this is a 24mm rocket.
