Quest
Brief:
This is a real quick building modroc.
Construction:
All of the parts are pre-colored to make finishing much easier. The fins lock
into a fin canister that is mounted into the back of the rocket. The fins and
canister are both plastic. The parachute is much better than the Estes
parachute. I love the Quest shock cord assembly. It comes with a 12"
Kevlar®
and a 12" elastic string. Overall the components are very good quality for
this model.
PROs: instructions are very easy to follow with diagrams for every step. Very easy assembly as it's an almost ready to fly model and it's cheap. Good quality components
CONs: The fins and the body tube are close in color but not too much. It's OK for a sport model (hence the name).
Finishing:
Decals came with the model. They are good quality and easy to put on. No
painting is required.
Construction Rating: 4 out of 5
Flight:
I have only flown this model once. I wanted a low flight so I chose the A8-3.
Despite the size, this rocket bulleted off of the pad. This really surprised me
because of the rocket's diameter. Good flight even though the parachute didn't
fully open. There was no damage.
Recovery:
I used the stock parachute that came with the model, but the parachute didn't
open. I like the parachute much better than Estes parachutes.

Summary:
This rocket goes together almost too fast. I was ready to fly it in 10 minutes
(and most of that time was waiting for the epoxy to dry). Very good beginning
model or just a fun one.
