Flight Log - 2012-04-15 - Brad Montgomery's Quadrunner

My son (8yrs old) and I found this to be a more challenging rocket due to the motor cluster, and the multi-piece fins.  Other than that it was not unlike other rockets we have built.  We epoxied almost everything on this rocket.  We used Elmers carpenter glue to glue the two-piece fins together.  After they were dry, we papered them with standard printer paper.  We used a thin layer of Elmer's Carpenter's Glue and wrapped them in wax paper and pressed them for a day between pieces of melamine to get a very smooth surface on the fins.  We primed with white Rust-oleum and painted the final coat with Rust-oleum gloss white, used my new airbrush to paint blue paint drips flowing down from leading edges on the rocket, then clear coated everything (3 coats).  Can't wait to see this thing go.

Good Launch - High winds (15-20 mph), Was nervous sending this rocket up as we just finished building it and it was the first time launching it. It went up good, tracking into the wind, chute deployed way past apogee, landed ~100 ft from the launchpad.
