The NPS Space Systems Academic Group (SSAG) High Power Rocket Program focuses on the use of amateur high power rocketry as a platform for project-based, hands-on education and research. In this quarter's directed study, Capt Dillon Pierce (USMC) designed and built a sensor payload package that characterized the rocket's flight through the correlation of accelerometer and gyroscope sensor data. As part of a continued study focused on amateur high power rocketry, he certified as a Level 2 amateur high power rocketeer and will be looking to build a Level 3 rocket next quarter.
