The North Carolina State University Rocket Team, Tacho Lycos, recently had a successful launch as part of the NASA University Student Launch Initiative competition in Huntsville, Alabama. The rocket flew to an official altitude of 5112 feet while recording temperature and accelerometer data in order to calculate the skin friction on the rocket through the use of the reference temperature concept in boundary layer theory.
