Actor Seth Green, and some actor/writer/producer friends, visited NASA Goddard. They got to see our giant centrifuge as they were preparing for a low-speed balance test of the James Webb Space Telescope's ISIM structure. Here is some footage of their visit and of the centrifuge in motion. NASA's High Capacity Centrifuge (HCC) top speed: 33 1/3 rpm (just like the record speed if anyone remembers that); it generates 30 G's at that speed. ISIM test top speed: about 11 rpm for about 10 Gs (same as it will experience on the Ariane 5 rocket during launch) The ISIM test shown here wasn't even 1 G. It was about 1/3 rpm. It was done to test the balance of the centrifuge.
