This is the first rocket I did with through-the-tube fin construction. The fins were also laminated - made out of multiple pieces of wood sandwiched together. It was tough to get the fins sanded just right so they would go through the slots, but I can see how constructing the fins in this manner adds strength to the rocket. The one time a fin did break loose from the rocket, it only wobbled rather than falling off completely. I was able to repair it easily.
I decided to put little paratroopers inside the rocket, just for fun. With 5 paratroopers packed inside, it's fun to let the kids run after them!
