Flight Log - 2012-06-23 - Jacob Griffin's Batray XL

This rocket is a modified Madcow Super Batray.  I added a payload section and an av bay to the rocket in order to make it dual deploy capable.  The fins, the payload bay, and the leading edge of the aft body tube are all fiberglass reinforced.  This rocket has a 38mm motor mount and has been flown on the new Aerotech J510W (second only to the Loki J1000LW).  This rocket, weighing in at only 6 pounds with no motor, will haul butt when a full J is put into it.

Flight Date: 2012-06-23
Rocket Name: Batray XL
Kit Name: Madcow Rocketry - Super Batray {Kit} (K-131)
Flyer's Name: Jacob Griffin
Motors: CTI J520SK
Expected Altitude: 4,000 Feet
Launch Site: Manchester, TN
Actual Altitude: 3,039 Feet

This rocket flew in a drag race with three other rockets at Southern Thunder 2012.  Those three rockets all flew on K motors and mine flew on a large J.  Ironically, the Batray XL beat all three of them off of the pad by at least 15 feet.  It was cool!
