Flight Log - 2013-04-06 - Glenn Pickett's Norad Pro-Maxx

This is my first HPR and I am going to use it for my L1 cert.

Flight Date: 2013-04-06
Rocket Name: Norad Pro-Maxx
Kit Name: LOC/Precision - Norad Pro Maxx {Kit}
Flyer's Name: Glenn Pickett
Motors: I180-11
Expected Altitude: 3,148 Feet
Certification Flight: Level 1
Wind Speed: 58.00 mph
Launch Site: Plaster City

2nd attempt at my L1 cert.  Beautiful, though, quite warm day at Plaster City (92 or so).  Bit of a wind as the afternoon progressed - 8-10mph with gusts to about 15.  After having failed my first attempt due to an ejected motor casing I installed a motor retainer to ensure, at least that would not cause me to fail again.  Also decided to go with a larger motor this time taking advantage again of the free motor case certification promo from Cesaroni and got a 3-grain case.  Launched on an I180 Skid Mark with a simulated altitude to 3148.  Once again, the rocket flew very straight and stable and parachute deployment was just passed apogee.  With that big 36" chute, had a good 1/2 mile hike to retrieve where every thing was as it should be...no damage and motor still inside the rocket.  Success!  On the way out to retrieve, we spotted the large white with black spot lizard pictured.
