In episode 7 of season 2 of the TV series "Emergency," a man is injured while helping his grandson launch a small rocket. The rocket is not a model rocket since the pair made their own engine and propellant. The paramedics treat the injured grandfather then discuss ways to continue the rocketry experiment in a safer manner.
Although the rocket apparently uses a liquid propellant, which is unlikely, the scene is otherwise realistic and the advice given by the firefighters is rational. Originally aired on November 4, 1972, the episode avoids portraying the grandfather and grandson as reckless and homemade rockets as dangerous. At that time, rocketry hobbyists were often portrayed as "basement bombers" in popular media.
