The Aerotech F23-7 Black Jack LMS motor which I had assembled the night before gave me a bit of a scare. The 7 second delay was more like 12 or 13 seconds and the rocket was way past apogee and heading in ballistic at a 30 degree angle with the characteristic whistle increasing in pitch and volume. Luckily the chute fully deployed about 150 feet off the ground and despite tearing off 1 of the 8 shroud lines, gently set down the rocket with no damage whatever.
