Took a lot of time filling and sanding down all the edges and joints to make them smooth, turned out very nicely, I'll try and get a picture up. Went with the stock paint scheme, very happy with the results.
Flight Date: | 2012-11-22 |
Rocket Name: | QCC Explorer |
Kit Name: | Estes - QCC Explorer {Kit} (00321) |
Flyer's Name: | Christopher Ebert |
Motors: | D12-5 |
Launch Site: | Field on Furman |
Slight weathercocking on takeoff, ejection delay seemed a little bit too long, but deployed well, and drifted back down to land within 40 feet of launchpad.
Looks like I may have let the rocket sit too low on the launch rod, because it melted the engine flare/boattail a little bit, but nothing major. Other than that no damage, and would have gone up again if it hadn't been my last engine.
