SUCCESS! The rocket plane roared to life and made quite the display. Did it survive the flight? NO. Was it awesome? Absolutely. Next step: stability. This test incorporated centerline thrust, proper balancing, an ablative heat shield, a low friction launch system, and a mighty E Estes rocket motor. The Rocket Plane project involves mounting a rocket motor inside an unbelievably light styrofoam airplane, with questionable results.
